Food trippin’

World Chicken – Glorietta, Food Choices. Top photo: Chicken with gravy + Pesto pasta + Asian noodle (pasta); Below: Chicken with cheese sauce + Pasta + Rice

Serenitea – Greenbelt. Yakult + Mango Green Tea. Much disappointment, they ran out of Lemon Yakult Green tea when we got there *sigh* but it was all good ‘coz we had Mango instead.

Caffe Ti Amo – Greenbelt. Orange + Coffee + Chocolate mint creamy smooth gelato FTW!

Aftermath: Tagcom 2012 – Day 2

March 31, 2012 – Robinsons Place Manila (Midtown), Ermita, Manila, Philippines. Almost every year, since 2009 (I think), I have been attending Tagcom – not just for the cosplay but also for the interesting stuff that you can only buy from this event. From toys, plushies, character hats, figures, gunpla, life size statues, accessories and etc. – you name it, it’s got to be there, somewhere.

Cosplay.PH had a booth set up, selling various merchandise from COSPRAY (washable colored hair spray), varied lengths of synthetic wigs, shirts, button pins, finger LED lights, and Cosplay Snapshot Photobook Volume 1 and 2 to name a few. To make the booth more interesting, Lizeri came up with the Kendama Challenge! There also was a Golden (Easter) Egg Challenge, where you get a chance to win a MINOR or MAJOR (Cosplay.PH shirt, Jacket, Cosplay Snapshot Photobook or a ticket to Cosplay Mania ’12) prize.

Tagcom cannot be complete without the Gundam/ Mobile suit exhibit. Eva_guy01 joined the contest and created a masterpiece as displayed below:

Eva_guy01‘s entry.

I was also a bit surprised to see some antique sellers during the event. I have never seen such an exhibitor before and I have to agree with Kero when he said that it was truly a buyer’s market when attending events like Tagcom.

Who would’ve guessed that there’ll be Hogwart’s merchandise here? Also some Omnom coinbanks (or was it squishy toys), a cute lip gloss and Domo-kun!

Say hello to Spidey! (Life sized statue up for grabs, only at Tagcom). I heard you can snag this baby for the fraction of the price.

A day will not be complete without a trip to get iced cold Mango green tea (to share with Ryan) from Serenitea.

Aftermath: Tama Matsuri 2012

  • Event: Tama Matsuri
  • Venue: SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 1
  • Date: March 24, 2012

Some active participants to the Kendama Challenge!

Some performances…
…and interesting exhibitors.

And on a side note, I got an allergic reaction from the ink they used for their stamp. Nasty nasty, it’s been 4 days already. Sad, I needed to have it covered to prevent myself from scratching it. Imagine, the stamped ink did not fade as if I got myself a tattoo.

March post

It’s been more than a month since I last posted, and I admit that I have been a bit very lazy on posting more relevant posts. I was re-thinking of changing my page’s content for the past days actually it was a few months back and I will go through with it in the coming months. No more will there be *just* random things posted, but there’ll be a theme. No, I will not be dropping my cosplay events and other coverage-s – but I guess, it’ll be rather minimal to what I think is relevant and interesting (no more to attending cookie cutter events, please!). Anyway, my dear readers, you will be definitely seeing and reading a strangely modified Akemi loves! soon.

And now, we go to the less wordy part of the post – I’d like to share this little restaurant that Ryan shared with me.

Le Ching restaurant, Greenhills, San Juan, Philippines.

If you’re at Robinson’s Galleria, take a jeepney ride going to San Juan then tell the driver to drop you off at Greenhills shopping mall. I’m bad with directions so feel free to ask around, the shop has been there ever since the 1990′s and the food still tastes the same as it was years before.

They serve the yummiest Spare ribs (forgot to take a photo before we dig’d in)…

…and Beef Brisket, I ever tasted.

You may also opt to get their Plain soup for Php30.00 to warm your tummy before having the scrumptious meal.

Having filled our tummies with a relatively heavy lunch, we headed off to (one of my fave tea shops) Chatime at Robinson’s Galleria.

Chatime Robinsons’ Galleria is located near the EDSA entrance (near Ministop), beside the grocery and in front of National bookstore – you won’t miss it.

New products…

…and some more new drinks to try.

There are two (2) things that entices me to go back to Chatime, one is the texture/ consistency of their Grass Jelly and another is the flavour of their Roasted Milk Tea.

On a side note, we dropped by St. Francis Square and we found this -

Got this baby for a fraction of the mall price. I’m such a cheapskate, I know.

To end the day, we finally got to visit the Akiba cafe at SM Megamall.

Akiba cafe’s Signature Trifle Kohi (will be back this weekend for another drink) and hi to Christian for nicely attending to our drink.

We also got this promo card, upon completion of the 10 stamps – you get a free drink of your choice.

 ###

PS. I’ll be visiting the Tamashii Con on March 24 (Saturday) and most of all, I’d like to thank Wilbert for the cutesy Pokabu sounddrop!

Aftermath: Chinoy Hao Bang

Chinoy Hao Bang is organized by the Rotaract Club of Chinatown – Manila.

Based in Binondo, Manila, the Rotaract Club of Chinatown – Manila (RAC Chinatown-Manila) is a Filipino-Chinese non-profit organization under Rotary International District 3810 that aims to create young professional leaders in order to make a social impact to the entire community. The club is sub-divided into different committees in order to easily and effective coordinate tasks among its members; these committees include Professional Development, Club Service, Community Service, Public Relations, and the International Service committee.

Here are some of the photos I took during the event.

There was also a cooking demo from the sponsors – CCA and Fujidenzo.

Someone was preparing the fireworks, I think, as early as 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

There were a few things that amazed me that day, (1) the newly built Ferris Wheel and (2) the cute tram at the Bay area. Plus the Zip line is still there, I wanted to try it but never had the guts to.

Also, there was this cute (unexpected) yacht that passed by, it had ribbons and balloons all over it. Smells like a party, yea?

Now, off to our booth. Cosplay.PH was in charge of the ‘Chinoy Style’ booth and we got to offer the attendees the Golden Dragon Egg game. Each of the eggs contain a fortune and will give them a chance to win a minor and major prize. Meet our dragon -

The major prizes:

…and our cute little mascots.

Last but not least, a hot day will not be complete without a cold glass of milk tea. Thanks Gong cha!
